Happy 2012!

I hope each of you had a wonderful New Years celebration and that you are feeling optimistic about 2012.  My husband and I kicked off the year with a jaunt to Sullivan’s Island to check out the 18th Annual Polar Plunge.  We parked our car on Isle of Palms to avoid the traffic, rode our bikes to the party, and ogled and giggled as thousands of people of all ages and walks of life, ran screeching into the the chilly winter water.  It was such an inspiration to me – a moment where there are no boundaries between people, where no judgement is cast, where fun and joy are 100% the name of the game, that I just might get the courage up to do it next year.

So here are a few photos of the event and below is a great video about from The Charleston City Paper.

And then after visiting with friends at their Sullivan’s Island beach cottage, we rode our bikes down the beach as the sun was setting.  With the wind even.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect day. Yes, this is what it’s like living in Charleston. 🙂

Happy 2012!!
