It’s about that time of year, when the humidity rises and only the steady ocean breezes or the shade of a live oak tree provide respite from Charleston’s summer heat. It’s also that time of year when I start wishing I had a pool, because sometimes I just don’t feel like going to the beach. So I thought I’d post a blog about homes with pools in Downtown Charleston. Out of 238 homes for sale south of the Crosstown, only 35 have pools. While it’s not hard to find one if your price range is over $2,000,000, here are two charmers under $1,000,000.
2932693 – Details: 25 GADSDEN ST, CHARLESTON, SC – $729,000
2904922 – Details: 143 QUEEN ST, CHARLESTON, SC – $999,500 – just a few years ago, this house was a sad decrepit place in need of a tremendous amount of love. The current owners came in, gutted it and renovated it to the hilt – in just the right amount. The best part about the house is the pool and courtyard in the back, onto which the entire back of the house opens up.
And then here is one of my favorites in the $1,500,000 range
2931441 – Details: 111 RUTLEDGE AVE, CHARLESTON, SC – $1,489,000
And here’s one around $2,000,000 – the man who renovated this home did it with spectacular attention to detail. The pool and courtyard are impeccable, as is the master bath.
1006480 – Details: 65 LEGARE ST, CHARLESTON, SC – $2,195,000
And finally, here is one of Charleston’s most unique homes with a pool, right down on Charleston Harbor.
2929400 – Details: 16 SOUTH ADGERS WHARF, CHARLESTON, SC – $5,680,000
