As I snuggle into the couch by the roaring fire on my porch, cold chardonnay cradled in my hand, I look out over the water and muse over the last boats heading home to turn in for the night. Where did they go today? What grand adventure did they have? Carousing around the Harbor? Tying up at Morris Island? Meandering the creeks and fishing – more for contemplation, less for the sport? My little boat was tucked up quite nicely in her lift, having served up a delightful afternoon at Dewees Inlet – swimming in the slack tide and laughing with friends. Then barefoot down the dock, low dive into the pool, floating, gazing at the clouds in the last blue of the sky – I thanked the day for all of its gifts. This Life in the Lowcountry.
Now a pelican dives for his dinner off the roof of my dock, red metal turned lavender in the setting sun, reminding me that perhaps I should go start mine. I shift to get up, but catch a glimpse of the hot pink airplane vapor trails in the sky. I think – they are going somewhere but I don’t have to. Not now. Not until I take in the last lustrous colors of the sun shimmering on the water. So I wait.
And then I wake up.
Yes, my fine readers, I just described my life in a dream, my home with a dock on the water. Though it’s not actually mine, it certainly can be yours. 42 Intracoastal Court gives you everything you imagined and more – a view, a dock, a pool, an outdoor kitchen, and a home graciously appointed for a lowcountry lifestyle. And did I mention the location? On Isle of Palms, a few blocks from the beach, 25 minutes from Downtown Charleston, on the Intracoastal Waterway…
