Pedal to Properties of Charleston is a fun, health-conscious, environmentally-friendly optional way to help you find your new home.  The concept originated in Boulder, CO in 2007, was featured in the New York Times, Fortune, and the Wall Street Journal and is now expanding nationwide. Charleston is the first in the country to become a partner with the original Pedal to Properties. and has now proud to include a fleet of bikes at Folly Beach where you’ll find my great colleague Adam Killerman.

To see the bikes we use or inquire in person, please stop by The Real Estate Studio at 214 King St in historic downtown Charleston.  Of course your calls and emails are always welcome!  843-412-3333 or kwalker@dunesproperties.com

Charleston is one of the best places in the country to see homes by bike, (It’s flat with great weather!) and often, it’s the best way to get around.   Imagine being able to see everything around you completely and with new eyes.  On a bike, you gain an understanding of the small, but important details about the neighborhood you’ll live in.

Biking is purely optional. If you prefer to tour homes by car, or if you are physically unable to ride a bicycle, there is no pressure. And often, bikes are transported to parts of town to conserve time and energy.  If you should choose to ride, this unique service combines the elements of health and fun with the home buying process and provides:

•An informational and exciting way to experience a city or neighborhood

•An easy way to view multiple properties in a given area

•An environmentally friendly choice

•Another step toward healthy living

Find your new home by bike

We provide you with Electra Townie bikes, which are easy to use and fun to ride, or you can bring your own.  We’ll go at your pace, and you’ll learn not only about the homes you see, but the neighborhoods you want to live in.  So if you are already an avid cyclist, or someone who just wants to have a little fun, why not find a home by bike? You’ll be amazed at the whole new perspective….

Some Charleston area neighborhoods that are great for biking include: Downtown, Wagener Terrace, Riverland Terrace in James Island, Byrnes Down in West Ashley, The Old Village and I’ON in Mount Pleasant and any of the islands – Folly Beach, Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island.  Click for a map of bike-friendly neighborhoods.

Pedicab Option (Downtown only)

For those of you who want the experience, but prefer to relax, we’ll call up the services of my favorite Pedicab driver, Jim.  In the back of his brand new two-seater pedicab, you can leave the pedaling to him.
