FAQs

Back to Pedal to Properties

Q. Why is this a better option than the standard way of viewing homes?
As a home buyer, you want to know that the neighborhood you may potentially live in is safe, practical for your needs, and fits your lifestyle. Touring neighborhoods on bicycles gives you an up-close and personal look at each street you travel. You will truly experience a neighborhood by riding up and down its streets, rather than zooming by in a car, giving you a feel for what it might be like if you lived there someday.

Q. What if I don’t like biking?
Biking is purely optional. Licensed Pedal to Properties realtors offer neighborhood showings on cruiser bicycles simply as a unique way to view homes. The traditional way of viewing homes via car is always available.

Q. Do I have to be in really good shape to tour neighborhoods on a bicycle?
Not at all. The Pedal to Properties model was developed with all ages, physical ability levels and interests in mind. Bike tours are not rigorous, rather leisurely and peaceful. This is one of the reasons the Electra Townie Cruiser is the Pedal to Properties bicycle of choice. It is comfortable, practical and easy to ride. Some people think it’s not for them, then they try it and love it.

Q. Can I bring my own bike and ride it instead?
Of course. We think you’ll love the ease of the cruiser bikes, though.

Q. What if  I’ve scheduled a neighborhood tour on bike, but the weather won’t permit it?
You have a few options:

  • Reschedule a tour with your realtor
  • View homes via car instead and plan to view another neighborhood via bike on a different day
  • Wear appropriate clothing and ride anyway!

Q. Do I have to wear a helmet?
The helmet is optional, but we recommend Pedal to Properties realtors encourage their use.

Q. What are the environmental benefits of this model?
Many real estate agents rely on cars to transport clients to and from locations, but motor vehicles create a substantial amount of air pollution. In fact, according to the EPA, transportation is responsible for nearly 80% of carbon monoxide and 55 % of nitrogen oxide emissions in the U.S.

Beyond that, touring a neighborhood on a bike is a preview of what you’ll be able to do once you live there. The bike slows down the process so you can really get a feel for your local lifestyle and the life your kids will live once you move there.
