Located just 30 minutes from Downtown Charleston, Isle of Palms is one of our barrier islands, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west. A popular vacation spot, including the resort at Wild Dunes, Isle of Palms is also home to about 4,000 full time residents who enjoy the island life year round. With its own post office, fire station, gas station, grocery store, recreation center, countless restaurants and more, Isle of Palms is a true little city oasis, where you can dig your toes in the sand or paddleboard into the sunset. Check out the city website for all you need to know. Oceanfront homes here start at around $5,000,000 and homes with a dock start around $3,500,000, but you can still find a brick ranch inland for about $1,500,000. While only a couple condo buildings can be found at the island center on Front Street, if you go behind the gates of Wild Dunes, numerous options exist.
Find My Favorite Local Businesses on the Isle of Palms
The Osprey Boat
The best large boat charter in town without a doubt! Once a wooden fishing vessel, purchased on ebay by a local IOPer, it was lovingly restored and put out to charter. Holding up to 49 guests, it’s perfect for any kind or party or sunset cruise, and they can even take you skeet shooting.
Marina Market
My favorite store on Isle of Palms – there is nothing they don’t have. From amazing breakfast, to big fat sandwiches, a nice selection of wine, and oodles of beachwear, it’s all there. Kids run in and out, and locals enjoy watching the boats come in from the back deck.
The Windjammer
The Windjammer – An Isle of Palms staple since 1972, the Windjammer is one of the best places in the metro area to see live music acts. Many a musician has launched their career here! With a huge back deck on the ocean and beach volleyball nets, the Windjammer is beach fun at its finest.
