Here in Charleston – We’ve Got a Major Sweet Tooth
Yes of course, our citizens are sweet-natured, and life in our lovely Lowcountry is certainly 100% sweet, but I am talking about the real thing. Real sugary things. This past 18 months or so, Charleston has seen the opening of countless numbers of sweets purveyors – some overall bakeries, and some that fill that special little niche. So here’s a list of all the ones we’ve seen recently! You’ll never have to go without.
The Macaroon Boutique – 45 John St
Serving up – you guessed it – Macaroons! Are they the new cupcake?
Wild Flour Bakery – 73 Spring St
Their speciality is the Sunday Sticky Bun. I’ve had it. It’s dangerous.
The Moonpie General Store – 48 N Market St
A little advice on eating a moonpie – heat in the microwave for 10 seconds.
The Sugar Bakeshop – 59 1/2 Cannon St
With a little outdoor courtyard in which to enjoy your cupcake or other delight, this place is a little find.
Baked – 160 E. Bay St
Hailing from Brooklyn NYC, these were one of the first to open – yum!
Cupcake – 433 King St
Cupcakes – only cupcakes folks.
