Lower King Street in Charleston – Not So Antiquey Anymore
Lower King Street, or the area between Market and Broad Streets has long been known as the Antique District, given the propensity of antique dealers to congregate there. However it seems that in the past couple years, Lower King has begun to take on a new personality, as many different kinds of shops have made their way to this great section of town. Ralph Lauren was a new addition a few years ago joining the ranks of Charleston’s long-standing clothiers, Ben Silver, Berlin’s and RTW. They have been followed by others in the time since, creating a healthy mix of clothing boutiques, galleries, a florist, a couple of shoe stores, jewelers, fine art, charming inns, restaurants, a wine bar….The list goes on….Here are a few more recent additions:
And now the new Roberto Coin Boutique – a designer jewelry store, and Cos Bar – a high-end cosmetics store are opening this week.
Seems to me that Lower King Street might just need a new name? Taking suggestions here!
